Church leaders from across the world are joining in a call for prayer for Wales this Christmas.Dr Rowan Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, and Bishops from Jerusalem and America are lending their support to the Church in Wales bishops’ Advent 'call to prayer' for the nation of Wales. In the lead up to Christmas Day, they are joining in prayer by recording themselves saying the Advent prayer, which goes live on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages at 6pmThe Bishop of Delaware, Kevin Brown, leads the prayer today (Dec 23), followed by Dr Rowan Williams on Christmas Eve and the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, Suheil Dawani, on Christmas Day.The Welsh bishops invited everyone to join them in prayer every evening at 6pm during Advent. The prayer asks for God’s healing and blessing on the nation of Wales.People across the Llandaff Diocese have been filming themselves saying the prayer, to share on social media. The Bishop of Pennsylvania, Daniel Gutiérrez, the Bishop of Los Angeles, John Taylor, and the Archbishop of Perth, Kay Goldsworthy, have also contributed. Bishop Kevin Brown said, “I am delighted to be joining in prayer with my sisters and brothers. This year we have all shared the sorrow and pain that the pandemic has brought upon our communities, and yet it is in prayer that we find comfort in God’s goodness and love. On behalf of the Diocese of Delaware I wish Wales a blessed Christmas and a very Happy New Year.”Archbishop Suheil says, “Christmas for us is both a great joy and also a great mystery.CHRISTMAS GIVES US HOPE, ESPECIALLY AT THIS TIME OF TURMOIL AND DIFFICULTY BECAUSE OF THIS PANDEMIC.”In his prayer video, Dr Rowan Williams says,CHRISTMAS ITSELF NEVER GETS CANCELLED, OUR CELEBRATIONS MAY, BUT THE FACT IS GOD IS WITH US AND ALWAYS WILL BE.The Bishop of Llandaff, June Osborne, said, “God’s light and love will always shine in the darkness.
