Prayers for Ukraine
The Universal Prayer for Peace
This prayer is said each day at noon by many people of all faiths and of none.
Loving God,
Lead us from death to life, from falsehood to truth.
Lead us from despair to hope, from fear to trust.
Lead us from hate to love, from war to peace.
Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe.
Amen.

Praying for Ukraine
This simple order provides a framework for a time of prayer for Ukraine, an order which is deliberately ‘open’, giving participants opportunities to adapt according to need. As the situation in Ukraine changes from hour to hour more specific petitions can be added as the situation develops.
Longing for the Kingdom of righteousness and compassion,
we pray to our gracious Father,
through Christ, the Prince of Peace
and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
For all who are trapped in the chaos of conflict …
for all who have experienced horrors …
for all who are fearful of what tomorrow will bring …
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who maintain the national infrastructure and emergency services…
for all who shelter from the bombs, the missiles and the bullets …
for all who carry arms to shield their communities …
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who flee the perils of violence …
for families and loved ones who are separated …
for the countries who open their hearts and communities to welcome the dispossessed…
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For the wounded and those who care for them …
for those who bring urgent humanitarian aid …
for those who are bereaved and those who offer comfort…
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who are weak and vulnerable …
for all who have disabilities and special needs …
for pregnant women, new-born infants and orphans …
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For those who face danger in defending their nation …
for those who seek to follow paths of diplomacy …
for all brave prophets who speak up for justice in the face of transgression…
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For journalists who open the eyes of the world to the oppression of war.
for all who influence hearts and minds …
for all who strive to bring truth to light …
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who lead: in Ukraine, Russia and in other nations …
for all who seek their own selfish designs without considering the suffering inflicted on others …
for all who work tirelessly to see light conquer every darkness…
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For governments and politicians the world over…
for reconcilers and peacemakers, ambassadors and diplomats …
for the European Union and the United Nations …
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For those who disdain the freedom and sovereignty of other nations …
for those consumed by loathing from within …
for those who nurture hatred and cruelty …
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who look across frontiers and see not enemies but friends …
for all who discern your divine image in their sisters and brothers …
for all who long to beat every sword into a ploughshare and every spear into a pruning hook …
Lord, hear us:
Lord, graciously hear us.
God, our refuge and strength,
our rock and defender,
you hear the weeping of your people
and look with compassion on the stricken.
In your miraculous power,
grant to oppressors true repentance
and to your peacemakers grace to reconcile, heal and restore.
Turn the hearts of all your people to ways of justice, goodness and mercy
and grant our world a vision of your glorious kingdom
where you reign in the power of perfect love,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
To you be glory for ever.
Amen.
