Hours of Work: 34.75 hrs/pw
This role will analyse and address technical issues that require domain-level administration credentials to resolve. The role will be mobile and may require visits to one of 14 separate sites across Wales on an occasional basis. This role grants administrative credentials to the AD system at Callaghan Square. The Network Support Officer will coordinate the procurement of access layer hardware and consumables and will take responsibility for building new client workstations and installing software. Working in a Windows environment and the Office 365 platform, they will manage user creation, deletion and administration across all domains. They will coordinate the administration of invoices and credit card purchases and manage the production of change request forms for any required alterations to the core network. The Network Support Officer will have domain-level user credentials and the ability to remove hosts from domains, reset passwords, and fully administer client workstations and user accounts. They will document and coordinate requests to Tier 3 for complex infrastructure issues they do not have the capability or credentials to resolve themselves.
Under the direction of the IT Helpdesk Team Leader, the post holder will be responsible for the coordination, installation and management of all ICT-related items, save core infrastructure. This includes product sourcing, configuration, installation, and networking, including fixed and mobile telephones. The post holder will also be responsible for the application training of users and the appropriate recycling of redundant equipment.
It is expected that a post holder at this grade will commit to proactively seeking to attain appropriate professional accreditation under the guidance of the IT Helpdesk Team Leader.

- An ability to work as a team of ICT professionals in progressing the corporate plan to develop ICT services.
- Good analytical skills to identify problems and the tenacity to see problems through to resolution.
- Good written and verbal communication skills: -
i) to be able to document technical issues in a coherent way for team colleagues
ii) to be able to inform non-specialists about their needs
- Proven ability to resolve workstation and software issues on a Windows platform.
- A proven knowledge of network configurations, particularly concerning IP protocol, and an understanding of Domain-based structures.
- Experience working with complex networked systems, preferably Windows-based.
- An understanding of Virtual Private Networks and configuring VPN tunnels.
- A good understanding of network and physical security requirements.
- Strong experience working with routers, hubs and switches.
- Expertise with firewalls, security software and anti-virus software.
- The ability to work flexibly with reasonable notice.
- An understanding of cloud provision of services, including online hosting.
- An excellent telephone manner and an ability to work with people of all levels of technical competence.
- An ability to plan, manage and prioritise time to deal with multiple tasks and issues.
- Emotional resilience with the ability to manage difficult conversations.
- An empathy with the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales.
