Bishop

‘Bishop’ comes from the Greek word for ‘overseer’. So a bishop is a senior Christian minister authorised to have oversight for God’s people. As well as duties given to deacons and priests, bishops confirm and ordain.

Evangelism

‘Evangelion’ means ‘good news’. Evangelism is about sharing the good news of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection in the hope that others may come to believe in and follow Jesus.

Developing a Tier 2 grant application

The first step in any Tier 2 grant application is to let the Church Growth Fund team know what you are proposing by emailing churchgrowthfund@cinw.org.uk.

You are required to complete a Tier 2 application form in order to submit a Tier 2 grant application. If your grant is approved, you will be asked to formally accept the Tier 2 Grant Terms and Conditions. Additional terms may be set by the Church Growth Fund Allocation Group which are specific to your grant – these will be made clear to you if your grant is approved.

The Tier 2 grant criteria, application form and Tier 2 Grant Terms and Conditions may be found here – please read both of the following documents carefully when considering whether your grant application meets the Fund criteria:

Submitting a Tier 2 grant application

All Tier 2 grant applications must have the written support of the diocesan bishop, the Diocesan Standing Committee and the Diocesan Board of Finance before being submitted.

Once support is gained from these, your Tier 2 grant application can be submitted to churchgrowthfund@cinw.org.uk by the deadlines noted below.

All Tier 2 grant applications are introduced to the Bench for general discussion, prior to formal submission to the Church Growth Fund Allocation Group for approval no later than 14 working days before the Group is due to meet. Introducing the project to the Bench will help cross-pollination of ideas and identify where any cross-diocesan working may be possible. Applicants may be asked to attend part of a Bench of Bishops meeting to discuss the project. The Church Growth Fund team will be in touch to discuss you introducing your grant application to the Bench of Bishops. Applicants will also be asked to give a detailed presentation to the Church Growth Fund Allocation Group meeting and be prepared to engage with the Allocation Group in questions and answers.
