Convenors of Spiritual Direction
Faith – A Listening Companion for the Journey
Whatever our faith is, or how we may describe it, we are all spiritual beings, and created to live a life of well-being; personally, spiritually, and communally. The journey of faith, as with the rest of life isn’t always easy, and so at times it can help to share our deepest thoughts and questions with another person; to have a listening companion.
A listening companion or soul friend, and in the church called a spiritual director, is someone who will meet with you and listen to you deeply and prayerfully. It is often thought that this is only for clergy or those who lead worship, but it isn’t, it is for anyone and everyone.
As spiritual directors we do not ‘direct’ at all, nor will we give answers or solve problems, and we don’t offer counselling.
What we do offer is a willingness to listen openly without judging or telling you what to do. We will do our best to help you discern what it is you need to have a greater sense of well-being and [or] relationship with God.
Each diocese in Wales has trained spiritual directors or companions, who will meet with you once or for many months or years! We welcome you as you are, and whatever it is you are seeking.
To discover more about spiritual direction, what it involves and how to find a spiritual director and companion for your journey, then below is a list of convenors of spiritual direction, those who ‘look after’ spiritual direction in each diocese across Wales.
