Year of Prayer
The Year of Prayer ends. Has prayer deepened, or begun? If so, what comes next?
As members of the Provincial Spirituality Group we would like to thank you for praying with our reflections, bible passages and prayers. They were brought into being from our own prayer and relationship with God, as without a deep awareness of our own prayerfulness they could not have been written. If you haven’t already seen the short film by Bishop John, please do watch it.
All that has been written for this Year of Prayer, is still available on the Church in Wales website, and so hopefully they can be used a resource for individual and private prayer, in church study or prayer groups, on quiet days or however you would like to use them. These resources don’t date and can be used many times.
One question we have been pondering is ‘what to do next?’. Our hope is that you will be able to help us answer this question; what have you thought about the material in the Year of Prayer?
Throughout this month we’d like to invite you to reflect upon the following questions and send in your responses to them. You don’t need to include your name, but if you can include which diocese you’re in this will help us to get a wider picture of where prayer has been taking place.
- Where did you hear about the Year of Prayer?
- How have you used the monthly resources eg. often, occasionally, by yourself, with others?
- Is there anything that you didn’t understand or wasn’t very clear to follow?
- Were there any ways of prayer that were new to you, or which you found particularly useful?
- Has it changed how you pray or encouraged you to pray more often?
- If more resources on prayer were to be offered on the Church in Wales website, would you use them and what would you like to see?
Thank you to all of you who send in your thoughts.
The Provincial Spirituality Group
Pilgrim prayerful God, you journey with us in the joyful and surprising moments of uplifting prayer. You journey with us in the dry and arid moments of empty prayer. You journey with us, every moment of every day, to deepen our inner prayer and outer walk with you. Amen.Year of prayer
