Governing Body meeting is postponed
The next meeting of the Church in Wales's Governing Body is postponed
The meeting was due to take place on April 23-24 in Llandudno but has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its business will now be postponed until its next meeting which will take place September.
The visit to Wales by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, on April 23-24, to celebrate the Church in Wales' centenary, has also been postponed.
The Archbishop of Wales, John Davies, who is President of the Governing Body, says, "In the light of the current exceptional circumstances and very clear Government advice, the Standing Committee has unanimously agreed that the meeting scheduled for April will not take place. Sufficient time will be set aside for the Governing Body to properly consider all its business at the meeting scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday 9 and 10 September.
"Unfortunately this means that the visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury to Wales will not take place as had been proposed. It is hoped that we will be able to rearrange Archbishop Justin’s visit at a future time."
