Join former Archbishop for inspiration on prayer
One of the country’s most inspirational Christian thinkers and speakers, Lord Williams of Oystermouth, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, will give a talk and reflection on prayer at St Asaph Cathedral next month.
Lord Williams, who recently retired as Master of Magdalene College in Cambridge, has written widely about prayer and will give his talk on Monday 7 November at 7pm.
He has been invited to the Cathedral by the Diocese of St Asaph’s Spirituality Group, which provides information, resources and organises events to help people deepen their relationship with God, wherever they are on their journey.
The group’s chair, Revd Dr Sally Harper, said, “We are delighted that one of the most inspirational thinkers and speakers on the subject of spirituality has accepted our invitation to come to St Asaph Cathedral. Rowan Williams has written extensively and very accessibly on the subject of prayer, and we look forward to hearing what he has to say. The event will also include an opportunity for people to reflect prayerfully in quiet for a short while, as well as sharing their own thoughts and experiences with others if they wish. We hope the event is practical and accessible to everyone and will give people something to take home.”
The event at St Asaph Cathedral is free with a retiring collection, but seats must be reserved using the Eventbrite platform.
St Asaph has a long tradition of prayer since Christianity was brought to the banks of the River Elwy by Kentigern and his successor, Asaph. St Asaph Cathedral is the smallest of the ancient Cathedrals in the UK and one of the oldest in Wales. The Cathedral was instrumental in the preservation of the Welsh language and now houses a collection of original Welsh Bibles, New Testaments and prayer books.
