Renowned author to speak at climate course
A renowned environmentalist will speak on the Christian response to climate change in the first of three training programmes on climate leadership for churches.
Dr Ruth Valerio, a director at the charity Tearfund and author of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2020 Lent book, Saying Yes to Life, will lead the first session of the online course with a talk on God’s Big Gospel Story.
The climate leadership course is being run by Tearfund specifically for Church in Wales’ churches during February. It consists of three short evening sessions looking at theology and practice. It is designed for people who are leading, or who are interested in leading, climate action in their churches. They will gain resources and ideas on how they can engage with the crisis in their churches and communities. Several people from each church congregation are encouraged to sign up for the course and perhaps form a church eco-support group after the training.
The course, which will take place on Zoom between 7.30-9pm, is on the following dates:
- February 2: Dr Ruth Valerio, Global Advocacy and Influencing Director at Tearfund
- February 9: Tools and approaches
- February 16: Engagement and outreach
