Prayers: Cyril (869), Monk and Methodius (885), Bishop
14 February
Ingenious God,
who inspired Cyril and Methodius to create a Slavic alphabet,
to translate liturgical texts into Slavonic languages,
we thank you for the creativity of writers and translators,
and we praise you for the passion and dedication of
those who strive to make worship available to people in their native languages.
We pray for Welsh speakers and learners who are inspired to continue the Pentecost promise,
that God may speak to all people in the language of their heart,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, your Word made flesh. Amen.
Collect 162
God and Father of all,
who gave to your servants Cyril and Methodius
such skill with languages
that they might proclaim the gospel to the Slavs:
grant that all who profess the name of Christ
may honour one another
and east and west unite in proclaiming
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
through the same Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
