Prayers: The Second Sunday of Epiphany
As an empty water jar of stone,
I stand before you Lord,
empty and cold in the dark turning of the year,
a capacity, unknown to myself, the dregs of what is left, bitter.
Yet here I stand and wait,
now hearing music drift,
gathering loud and strong,
the dance begins,
fresh innocence proclaimed.
And so with freshening life comes new
and flooding light, brimming effervescent glory.
Take what is plain and worn in me
that I may taste again the sweetness of the cup you offer me. Amen.
God of the Universe,
Jesus called the disciples to be witnesses
and evangelists of his life and glory.
Help us similarly to reveal you and your glory through our lives.
We ask this in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
God of the Universe,
Your Son’s miracles reveal your glory to us.
Help us to reveal you and your glorythrough our lives.
We ask this in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Collect 21
Almighty God,
in Christ you make all things new:
transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace,
and in the renewal of our lives
make known your heavenly glory;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
