Prayers: The Third Sunday of Epiphany
Lord Jesus,
anointed by the Spirit to bring good news:
hear our prayers for the world’s oppressed peoples;
for those in thrall to the powerful, or denied the freedom to be who they were meant to be;
for those whose guilt keeps them bound in its grasp,
and for those who cannot see any goodness.
Bless those who need to know the hope that you came to bring,
as they struggle to care for loved ones in the midst of war and bloodshed,
or simply to feed their children and pay their bills.
Give us the grace to be aware of the needs of others,
and to endeavour to meet those needs in your name. Amen.
God of the Universe,
Jesus proclaimed your love for people in real need.
Help us to find those people in our area and to serve them.
We ask this in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
God of the Universe,
may your people shine with the radiance of Jesus’ glory,
that Jesus may be known, worshipped,and obeyed to the ends of the earth;
We ask this in the power
of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Collect 23
Almighty God,
whose Son revealed in signs and miracles
the wonder of your saving presence:
renew your people with your heavenly grace,
and in all our weakness
sustain us by your mighty power;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
